UX & Interaction Designer

Resource Management Tool

In 2008, Point B set out to build a custom Web application to better manage staffing and resource allocation for the firm. After seeing the initial mockups that the stakeholders and the business analyst created, I realized that the application design was not going in the right direction. I was able to convince the project team to take a different design approach – a more iterative design approach that involved end users through each iteration. I also created a new set of wireframes with better usability and simplicity that eventually became the basis for the final design (see the “before” and “after” designs below). Furthermore, I brought in a visual designer to put the final design touches on the UI/interaction design. I also led the development team in implementing a nimble and high performing backend solution for the application. The result – this Resource Management Tool is recognized as the most user-friendly and elegant application in our organization.
